Chrissy Lewis Summers
Founder and Director
Chrissy (Lewis) Summers is the founder and director of Beyond Sticks and Play Beyond the Game, the non-profit that our programs now run under. As Beyond Sticks has grown, Chrissy's focus has shifted from coaching to growing organizational impact, although she still sneaks onto the field to coach when she can. Over the past 8 years, Chrissy has worked primarily in high schools, head coaching for 5 years. During her pregnancies, she volunteered with Columbia and Vassar, gaining valuable experience working with Division I and III programs. In 2015, Chrissy and Beyond Sticks was awarded the Toyota and ESPNW Everyday Hero Award on behalf of the work of Beyond Sticks and the non-profit, Play Beyond the Game.
She first picked up a stick in 7th grade in Linglestown, PA. After quickly developing a love for the sport, she went on to co-captain her high school team at The Lawrenceville School. In college, she played at Vassar College were she was a 4X NCAA All-Academic honors recipient and two year co-captain.
Chrissy has a Masters degree in sports business management from Georgetown University. She has a Level 1 and Level II coaching certification through USA Field Hockey and attended several NFHCA Coaching Seminars.
Beyond Sticks was started with Chrissy's belief that sport is about so much more than what happens on the field. Since the addition of her own kids, she is more committed than ever to keeping kids in the game and building joy.
