Chrissy (Lewis) Summers is the founder and director of Beyond Sticks. As Beyond Sticks has grown, Chrissy's focus has shifted from coaching to growing organizational impact, although she still finds a sideline to coach from when she can. In addition to coaching across all ages and levels through Southeast Storm and our Development Academy, she was the Varsity Head Coach at the Potomac school before taking 2014 off to have her first child. In her four years of coaching varsity hockey, she helped transform Potomac Field Hockey in two seasons from a 3-10 record to 11-4-2 with their first trip to the State Tournament in over ten years and a second place ranking in the league. Chrissy began coaching at the Madeira School, where she also coached them to their best record in over 10 years and first appearance at a state tournament. In addition to working with Storm and Beyond Sticks, Chrissy was a site director for USA Futures, the Volunteer Assistant Coach at Columbia University and a coach at Wold Camp, Vassar and Columbia Field hockey Camps. In October of 2015, Chrissy was awarded the Toyota and ESPNW Everyday Hero Award on behalf of the work of Beyond Sticks and the non-profit, Play Beyond the Game, which houses the Loudoun County Field Hockey League.
She first picked up a stick in 7th grade in Linglestown, PA, a hot bed of high quality field hockey. After quickly developing a love for the sport, she went on to co-captain her high school team at The Lawrenceville School the year they won the New Jersey Independent School State championships. In college, she attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. While playing, Christine started all four years, was a four-time NCAA All-Academic honors recipient, captained her junior and senior years and received All-Conference honors in her final season.
Chrissy has a Masters degree in sports business management from Georgetown University. She has a Level 1 and Level II coaching certification through USA Field Hockey and attended several NFHCA Coaching Seminars.
Chrissy hopes to grow the game of field hockey and expose as many young people as possible to the power of sport through our unique play beyond the game mission.
Taleah does everything from website design, marketing and gear, to coaching and working with our non-profit. A jack of all trades, she is truly getting a small business experience.
Taleah coaches for Beyond Sticks, Storm and coaches the varsity program at The Potomac School. She will be head coach of our Youth-Multi Sport camps for her second year. Taleah is very passionate about our mission and positively impacting our young athletes, she loves working with all of our different groups, skill levels and ages.
Born and raised in Australia, Taleah was recruited to play Division 1 at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh in 2011. When the program ended in 2014 she graduated in 2015 and then continued her NCAA career at Virginia Commonwealth University while receiving her masters degree in Sports Leadership.
